Did anyone actually enjoy the street projects for Rasana who had NOT been in first beta? I thought they were depressing and horrible.

I loved them. And I was not in first beta so I had nothing to compare them to.

I was not in first beta, but I found them horrible.

I also wasn't in first beta and loved them =]

I was not in the first beta and I found them fascinating for a bit but after the first few I didn't participate. I'm not a hoarder so I had nothing to contribute besides work units. And usually everyone else beat me to whatever it was I could contribute. So, simple answer to your question: NO.

I'm genuinely curious about what people liked. For me, yes they were laggy, and then I had the wrong kind of tool or not very much needed stuff. Experienced players were using their tokens to go home and grab hoarded resources, and they had spreadsheets - which they did not share - to say what would be needed in the next phase, so they'd have a shot at trophies. I was frustrated and felt absolutely no satisfaction in "helping" or sense of "building" the world - they were a grim waste of time and I'm glad they're gone. I'll definitely ask you folks what I was missing, when I see you in game!

I hated the street projects in Rasana. I was not in first Beta. I was living on Khoul Bheens at the time and it was horrible.

Me. I wasn't in the first beta, and I did like the street projects. It was some more variety for tasks in the game, and sometimes I would have the right stuff. I did read the forums to know what kind of stuff in general might be needed.

For me, even Beta building was joyless. Apha building drew on a much smaller more cohesive community. As the game scaled up, the grasping for trophies obliterated any sense of joint effort.

Thanks for offering thought on this, friends. I'm not just being a grumpkin, but really wondering! :) There's a forum thread where some folks were really decrying the absence of projects, but they were pretty much all alpha/beta players; I can totally believe it was a lot more fun and meaningful back then, compared to my experience in the fall. It's really interesting to hear what others thought of the projects.

Hated them after reset/public opening...they were horrible due to overcrowding, etc. However, I did enjoy when they had multiple projects running during beta. I liked them when I had a shot at making it into the top 5 due to my own resources and collaboration with some friends (we'd announce in our private group that a project was running, and they would flood those of us there with gifts of resources to submit - we'd often share extra project trophy pieces with the once who didn't like the crowds). However, as the devs said, the projects didn't scale well. They said they were working on a redesign for them, and I'd love it if the new streets would be to test out a SP redesign before this beta is over. Especially if it makes it better for everyone to participate, and have fun again. I guess I'd just like some level of work by the players to open the streets...makes you feel like you contributed to expanding the world vice them just **poof**ing them into Ur.

I joined after beta and I enjoyed the first couple I worked on but then they quickly became really really frustrating. I don't think they worked well with so many people, it crashed me almost constantly, but I think that they should come back in a modified form. I'd like to see some friendly competition as well as something comunal to work towards in game.

I was in the first beta and loved the street projects then. So loved. I had an okay time when we unlocked Callopee and Pollokoo in October. Still fun, but the requirements were much smaller (made sense; we hadn't had much time to stash stuff or build up skills). But for Aranna and Rasana, I HATED them. It was not fun. There were so many of us playing that it was so laggy I could barely move, there were so many players contributing such vast quantities that I could barely contribute, and I crashed all the time. It was really disappointing, because I'd loved the initial projects so much. When they worked and were scaled for the number of players, they were golden. It would take much longer to do one phase. People had to go on runs for supplies and ingredients. The cooperation was still there in Aranna and Rasana, but it wasn't as prolonged for the most part, because we finished phases in minutes, not hours. I do miss the old projects.

I thought people took them WAY to seriously, so all I enjoyed was pranking them.

Wow (b3achy, VS et al) - it hadn't even occurred to me they would have been a way to actually spend some real time in the game! In rasana, even with the new streets chat window open and TPing instantly, I sometimes didn't get there while a phase was still open, they went by so fast. Or I'd click on something that seemed to need a large quantity of [work or goods], but by the time I'd clicked how many I could contribute, they'd all have been fulfilled already. And then everyone would be off to the next street, already knowing what the requirements were going to be in the next open phase... It makes sense that it was supposed to actually take a bit of effort and maybe even cooperation to "build" the streets.

Never liked them. Not one thing about them.
