Make fuel cells useful

Currently, fuel cells have no purpose because the cost to create them (~105 energy plus the cost of searching for the materials and teleporting to their location and back home) is higher than the cost to simply take apart the machine and put it back together again (105 energy straight up). Either make fuel cells cheaper to create, or make it more expensive to disassemble and reassemble a machine (or a third option, don't give free fuel when a machine is fully reassembled or give less fuel; alternatively, fuel cells could add more fuel than they currently do).

  • When you have all of the ingredients for fuel in your home street and backyard, the convenience of a fuel maker is just slightly better than taking a machine apart and reassembling it, but it still costs more.  Yeah.  +1

  • Better to remove the default fuel allotment that comes with assembling the machine.

    Agreed, with the exception except for the very first time a Glitch assembles one. Perhaps just enough to make their first one

  • Please can we have bigger (super) fuel cells, they would need more resources to make but would make crafting fuel cells a better option.

    I think the dis assembly method for the fuel maker alone should stay, It should allow the max of two cells to be made each time you reassemble after dis assembly. This would allow for anyone who accidentally uses their last fuel cell to still be able to craft a new ones.

  • I think I like Faereluth's idea the best actually. Have the fuel maker be the only machine to get free fuel out of assembly, and only just enough to make a couple fuel cells. All other machines should assemble with 0 fuel and require fuel cells right from the start.

  • Thanks for the suggestions: we'll figure something out!

  • We want things easier for us, right? Why are we complaining?

  • @AwesomeCardinal2000: We want the game to be fun and balanced; constantly reassembling the same machine is neither fun nor balanced.

    @stoot barfield: You're awesome!

  • The fuel machine does not need a default allotment.  You can use a partially fueled machine in a community machine room to make some cells, or you could buy your first cell at auction.  There is no need for that behavior.

  • It could get awkward if at some point every fuel machine was out of fuel and there were no fuel cells in existence; that scenario needs to be accounted for.

  • Thanks for pointing this out. You now receive 10 fuel when assembling a machine (instead of 50).

  • So, now that you guys nerfed the start up fuel, which really doesn't bother me that much based on the previous comments - sounds like some level of nerfing was necessary, is there something that remembers how much fuel a machine had when it was dis-assembled...sometimes you have to tear down a machine that has 80-90 fuel - at a street project or when our houses are reset, etc, and it was already bad enough that you only got 50 back when you re-assembled...now that it's dropped to 10 @ new, will it remember that I originally had 80-90 fuel and reassemble with that amount?!  Thanks!

  • Changed the fuel amount in an assembled machine back to 50, until we have a chance to make something 'remember' the amount of fuel in the machine.

  • OMG, thanks Mart Lume...didn't mean for you to change it back, but rather just consider a way for it to remember after the first time...you guys are uber cool for changing it back temporarily!
