  • Yet another reason why it should be spelled "qoin" in Ur! :D

  • Dunno if Tiny Speck even thought of the real meaning of Quoin. I just figure they took the word 'coin' and made up a different spelling for it. Saying Quoin in speech is basically pronounced the same way as Coin.

  • I asked it and it turns out that Tiny Speck did think of actual quoins (and knows of dentils and balustrades and finials to boot). But, Tiny Speck didn't think that masons or architects or admirers of older buildings would find it too jarring if they were to borrow the spelling.

  • There is a very nice bar in Seattle called Quoin and, yup, it's on a corner.

  • I enjoy quoins and spandrels and all that, but there's just nothing quite like a good flying buttress.

  • Plinth is a good word. It seems Glitchy. Plinth Balustrade. I can't decide if that's a good Glitchling name, or a good street name.

    Balustrade Plinth? Hmmm.

  • Spell it more phonetically if at all possible and then add in some extra letters that don't really affect the pronunciation! Then it's original~

  • Quoiyne?  Hmmmm...
