You just don't understand the true meaning of glitch, which is to take anything that isn't tied down. It's not stealing if no one can stop you, right? You didn't put your name on the feeder, so it doesn't count as yours!
Ugh, I got fed up with this sort of excuse in kindergaten. Sorry about your feeder and piggies :(
I wonder if jerk face will put their hand up to taking the said feeders/collectors to defend their honor lol (highly unlikely...they'll just end up being blocked by any person who reads this forum) - you can defend the clearing home streets as much as you like, but the more who block those that take, the less fun they'll have taking lol
What I've started doing when I hear about these things is look into the auctions and see who is selling meat and milk collectors in bulk...if they still have milk and meat left in them, there is a good chance, the person probably took them off someone's street (and wasn't smart enough to empty them) and is trying to make a profit. If they are empty it's possible the person just made them and are honestly selling them - so you need to check to see if they have Tinkering V skills. In the first case, it's a pretty easy call to just block that person to thwart their future gathering adventures. In the second, it becomes a more difficult judgment call...you might be blocking an honest tinkerer, but they might just be smart enough to empty the collectors...so in those cases, it's best to see if they have piggy feeders for sale, and if those are partially filled, you are likely blocking a person who gathers on home streets. There is always a chance, they just had a lot in their yard and they are selling them off.
There really isn't much more you can do but block, since it is their style of play to take them. Without a lock down option, it is a legit way to play per TS, even if it is annoying to others. I know some don't like to use the block function, but the more difficult you make it on them to annoy you, then they will move on to other things (and one can only hope, maybe move on to other games since enough people blocking will hopefully send them a signal that people don't like that activity). It's one option at your disposal to use that is proactive vice just opening yet another thread on this ongoing issue.
I checked the auctions and found someone (who didn't have the Toolie Apprentice badge - make 17 tools) who had put up 6 piggy feeders (all partly filled), 6 butterfly milkers (empty) and 6 meat collectors (empty) all for less than you'd pay at a vendor.
Fark, I've blocked loads of folk. Anyone who annoys me gets blocked, I come here for fun lol It is one of the game's positive features. Just wish the blocking would apply to interaction in world too. I suppose it would be difficult logistically for them to make is so.
As far as I can tell, each instance of every item has its own unique ID number - I discovered this when clicking on multiple game show wheels too quickly (try it, and look at the growl) - so it would be nice if there was a way to view and track these unique IDs to "catch thieves".
(I put "catch thieves" in quotes because yes, swiping a feeder off of someone else's lawn is still allowed behavior, even if it isn't respectful behavior.)
I love these kinda posts..it shows you who has no compassion to the person who is upset and feels they cant take anything just because the screen when u click it says pick up. Btw Captain Daisy is one smart cookie:)
The street isn't called Tii Street or Khool Bheens, but "Lorraine's Home Street", it's named after ME. MY street. The implication is clear as crystal. Also, as you may or may not know, RHK items *DO NOT FUNCTION* unless they are on *YOUR PROPERTY*. The fact that they function just fine on your HOME STREET, furthers the implication that it is indeed YOURS.
The game was highly intended to be a community game, where people work together and help one another. Allowing people to steal machine items that are intended for the property owner to put down for his or her own street's assets is really assinine and goes AGAINST what this game is all about. This game SHOULD NOT be promoting thieving, asshole behavior. However, it currently does with the way the system works as it is now.
Allowing people to pick up items whose purpose are to be placed down to function? Anti-fun.
Allowing people to use youth potion on animals placed on your street so they can run off with them? Anti-fun.
Allowing people to use tree poison on trees you placed on your own street, for no reason other than to cause you grief? Anti-fun.
So yeah, stoot needs to either a) put a 'Place' option on RHK items to make them act like icons, sticks, and gnomes.. or b) make RHK items not function when placed down on the home street... or c) don't name our home streets after the player, because that truly implies the resources themselves belong to us. Sure, people can harvest and stuff, but they should never be able to *REMOVE* entire resource objects, including RHK items or animals or trees.
While I don't condone taking things from streets like that (I've posted about it myself), I'd hesitate when blocking people based on badges. I don't know if I've completed that badge, because I never smelt and tinker to make tools. I have purchased dozens of collectors and feeders, since they're cheap. Then, when I neglect the animals and they die, many times I've sold 5 of each at once on the auction. I was running 9 feeders and 12 collectors at my old house. Obviously, I'm not very good at it because my animals still died.
Your choice to block who you'd like, but that evidence might not tell the story.
@ Buttercup, yes, I came across that concept for checking when I was trying to buy an extra meat collector in the auctions (I often buy tools there now, because people who make them usually offer them at better prices than the vendors). I came across a player who was selling like 10 meat collectors for different prices because they were filled to different levels (unfortunately, it looks like that player changed their name since I noticed that behavior, and since we can't see who we've blocked, I don't have a clue what their current player name is anymore - though I'm building a process to remedy that in the future). I thought it odd, until I figured out they had a bunch of the other RHK tools in their auctions, all filled at different levels, and it became clear they were probably an "RHK tool gatherer" who hadn't emptied out the collectors before trying to sell. It was only with this thread that I remembered seeing that a month or so ago, and thinking...hmmm, that might be a potential way to track down who might have gathered up these items off people's streets. I definitely appreciate Captain Daisy for pointing out the badge check also...just refines the process further.
I read in a post that TS was going to encourage community development. I don't see how it will work if a community forms and stealing is allowed. I'm thinking that allowing stealing is part of the game's attempt to make the Glitch world like the real world in that awful things can happen in the real world. Stoot, I would like to hear from you why stealing is allowed in the game. Are you trying to challenge us to find ways to keep the fox out of the henhouse? lol
There is a reason my front yard is now bare and will stay that way. I am tired of my animals being stolen, my trees being killed and dug out, my feeders taken and sold on the auction (along with my animals). I got tired of fighting the beast, so now there is nothing for them to do in my yard. Makes my life easier not dealing with it.
I guess if that is how TS wants it, then alright. No more thought about wasting my iMG on my yard for others to harass me with. No more wasting my energy making items someone can take. No more wasting my time and resources making animals someone will steal. They can do it to others, but not to me, not anymore.
Who would do that? Make a machine, partially fill it and auction it? Only a CRAZY person. :) Glad someone pointed that person out. Not that I put anything on my street that can be stolen, but I don't want thieves on my street in any case. :)
This auction blocking thing is kinda unnecessary. I don't have the badge but I auction LOTS of feeders and such since I buy new ones weekly to give away and sell the remaining few. I'm blocked too? Cool beans
@Clark Griswald: The suspicious behavior is not based on people not having the badges. It's based on people selling mulitples of RHK items on the auction, sometimes partially filled, while still not having the tinkering badges. They *could* be purchasing them from a vendor, then using them for a bit, then deciding to sell them - that *is* possible. It's just as likely that they are taking the items from other players and re-selling.
From your description of your own behavior, you are purchasing RHK items more than selling. In other words, you may not have the badges but you are also not selling off suspiciously large numbers of those particular items frequently. :D
I think that people shouldn't take the feeders and collectors either, but TS has said they won't lock them down. It's not exactly griefing or stealing either, since the devs made the feeders and collectors so that they could be picked up. I think that if you want to combat this, you should put some animals and feeders and collectors in your now-big backyard, and hand feed the front yard ones.
Yeah, it's saddening to think that someone would come to your location (I believe you can safely think of it as YOUR location, since it is in your imagination, after all) and take things that are necessary to support your animals.
There actually isn't much of a reason to put collectors in your front yard. Other people are not able to collect from them, only you. So if you're leaving them so others can have the product, that won't work. (People can fill the feeders and even the stills, but that's all.)
SeerQueen is right. Hand-feed the front yard piggies, if any, and people can nibble if they want meat. Make 'em work for it!
ETA: Oops, I mentioned SeerQueen (who is still right!), but I was thinking of AC2K. :D
Ok, I'll put in my two cents too, lol. To those who trumpet "Its not stealling! Its the way the game was designed to be played!" I doubt very much TS particularly meant for people to act this way, even if they knew some few would. You may not want to think of yourself as a thief, but I'm very sure you do mean to upset people. Its really the only reason to continue to do it after you hear how people feel when you do it. Wake up. And don't bother claiming that you behave differently in real life, you "only spend your time upsetting people in the game". I've lived long enough to not buy that line. If thats how you get your jollys, so be it. Not my problem. I learned long ago not to put something I cared about, where someone could take it. (and I really can't understand why people still put these things in a public area when they know about the behavior)
Taking things that aren't tied down is something thats going to continue as long as Glitch exists. Its human nature. The game really is a reflection of real life, and I think thats pretty wonderful. Its one of the things that keeps it interesting.
I will never understand why TS will not listen, what seems to be a lot of people, who are upset that feeders and collectors can not be locked to the street. The devs have been usually quite responsive about stuff over the months, but not this. Wish someone would listen. It would delete a huge amount of sadness in the game.
Here we are *again* with the 'stealing'. Why, why, why do you put these things on your street? Would you put them on Tii Street? Because it's the same thing. A PUBLIC street. It's easier, and cheaper to just drop 20 meats or so. I've never had pigs starve that way, and nibbling them individually is not as much a pain in the butt as repeatedly putting equipment where others are free to take them. Common sense.
For the record, I don't take people's stuff. I have enough trouble getting rid of the stuff I do have. But I'll defend the 'takers' over the self-made 'victims' any old day of the week.
I personally think that people shouldn't be allowed to take RHK items from your home street, but what is with the blocking? Are people seriously blocking others for having partially filled RHK items up for auction? How is it logical to assume that a partially filled item automatically means it was stolen - not that they had used it for a while and decided to sell it?

Omg .. I thought the devs had locked our street machines and feeders to the street owner.. now I find out that my thousands of currants worth of equipment aren't locked to me?? Aw crap. :( :( :(
Devs please DO SOMETHING about this!! It's been brought up sooo many times! What are you waiting for?? :(
Edit: "Well, yah...If Tii street told me that it was "my street" when I entered it, then I would expect that "my stuff" that I put on it to be safe from lazy ass freeloaders. " EXACTLY. Well said. Mmhmm.
